Assistant Controller
The World Equestrian Center located in Ocala, Florida is searching for a Assistant Controller to join our team!
The Controller is responsible for coordinating financial and accounting practices, procedures, and policies. Participates in Organizational Development and provides accurate and timely reports reflecting the financial condition of the Resort/Complex. Hires, trains, and supervises the Accounting team.
Essential Functions:
- Supervises the accounting team, including Staff Accountants, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and other areas as assigned.
- Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, development, and evaluation of the staff.
- Establishes or recommends to management Accounting Policies and Procedures for the property.
- Plans and implements procedures, workflows, and systems.
- Prepare reports which summarize and forecast business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
- Advises management about risk and liabilities for protection against property losses.
- Advises management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax code revisions.
- Arranges for audits of property accounts.
- Prepares reports for regulatory agencies, including non-Income Tax Returns & Filings
- Prepares and negotiates different contracts.
- Maintains files for all contracts and agreements for historical reference and for protection against property losses and potential liabilities.
- Maintains good relations with operations managers and leadership, as well as outside organizations such as banks, auditors, etc.
- Provides continuous direction to and education of the operation team in all areas related to finance, financial reports, internal controls, labor management, payroll, month end reconciliation, P&L performance, etc.
- Have complete knowledge of all policies, standards and procedures of the department.

Qualifications, Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:
- College degree in Accounting / Business and minimum of 5 years management experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in finance related computer programs, including Excel, Word, and Quick Books.
- Knowledge of city, county, state and Federal regulations related to maintain and reporting on financial data.
- Ability to effectively interact in a professional manner with management team, guests, condo owners, and Resort ownership.
- Excellent organizational, time management, computer skills and strong analytical skills.
