Banquet Server
The Banquet Server is responsible for providing excellent food and beverage service to guests during banquet events. This role ensures that all guests have a pleasant and memorable experience by adhering to service standards before, during, and after events.
Primary Responsibilities:
Event Preparation:
- Set up banquet tables with linens, silverware, glassware, and other necessary
items as specified in the event plan.
- Ensure the banquet area is clean, organized, and visually appealing prior to guest
arrival.
Guest Service:
- Greet guests warmly, and address their questions or requests with professionalism.
- Serve food and beverages efficiently, following event timelines and service protocols.
- Pay attention to guests’ needs and provide prompt and courteous service throughout the event.
Coordination and Teamwork:
- Collaborate with kitchen staff and other servers to ensure the smooth flow of service.
- Communicate effectively with team members to accommodate any special guest requests or dietary needs.
Quality Assurance:
- Maintain a keen eye for detail to ensure tables are bussed, and reset promptly as needed.
- Adhere to all health and safety standards, including food handling and sanitation guidelines.
Post-Event Duties:
- Assist in cleaning and breaking down the event area, including removing linens and resetting the room for the next event.
- Help with inventory control by ensuring all service items are returned and stored properly.
Customer Satisfaction:
- Strive to exceed guests’ expectations by delivering attentive and friendly service.
- Handle any guest complaints or issues promptly and escalate to management when necessary

- Banquet servers often work long shifts on their feet, sometimes for 8-10 hours or more, requiring sustained physical stamina.
- Servers need to lift and carry trays, dishes, and other items that can weigh up to 25-50 pounds frequently, requiring good physical strength and dexterity.
- The job requires the ability to walk and stand for extended periods, often involving brisk movements across the venue.
- Servers must navigate spaces between tables and patrons while carrying trays or dishes, requiring good balance and coordination.
- Tasks like setting up tables, serving, and cleaning up require frequent bending, reaching, and stooping.
These requirements help ensure that banquet servers can handle the physical demands of their job efficiently and safely.
Qualifications, Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:
- Previous experience in a similar hospitality or service role is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Physical stamina for long shifts and the ability to lift moderate loads.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
